EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are entrusted to administer the Body and Blood of Christ at each Eucharistic service. Some distribute the Eucharist to parishioners who are homebound, in the hospital, or in nursing homes.
GREETERS
In order to foster a sense of community and hospitality, a group of smiling, outgoing volunteers greet parishioners each weekend at selected masses. Greeters are posted at each entrance of the church. As parishioners enter, they are welcomed with a smile, handshake, hello, and an opened door. Greeters also share their hospitality at other parish related activities as requested.
LECTORS
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at weekend, Holy Day and special liturgies throughout the year. Mass preferences are accepted.
LITURGICAL PLANNING
The
liturgical planning committee is responsible for planning certain special liturgies and decorating the church for the different liturgical seasons throughout the year. Planning includes the Mass of Remembrance in memory of the deceased in the parish who have died throughout the year, the Graduation Mass honoring all recent high school, college, and trade school graduates, the ritual mass for the Anointing of the Sick, and a Thanksgiving Mass on Thanksgiving Day. The committee works closely with the music minister to incorporate music and song into the liturgies. This committee also provides the appropriate training for the Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, and Altar Servers.
LITURGY OF THE WORD WITH CHILDREN
In the preparation and celebration of
liturgies with children, the goal is to lead the children toward celebration of Mass with adults. After the opening prayer, all children ages four to ten are invited to celebrate the Liturgy of the Word in a special worship area in the church social hall. The children explore and discover the meaning of the scriptures on their own level.
Before the Eucharistic Prayer begins, the children are led back to the general assembly. The Liturgy of the Word with Children occurs on the third Sunday of each month from September to May at the 9:30 AM Mass.
